The Author

Hi! I am David E. Bustamante, a Hispanic-American researcher, legal translator, and illustrator. My work as an independent researcher in topocentric astronomy focuses upon the procedural principles of celestial inference—originally established by medieval Arabic scholars and physician and professor of mathematics, Morin de Villefranche (17th century). I am primarily recognised for advocating epistemological rigour in house theory and the study of coordinate systems for celestial partitioning.

To many in the astrological community, I am known as the translator of Chris Brennan’s Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune (2017, Amor Fati). Beyond research, I have a distinguished background in diplomatic service, having served as an interpreter for the United States Embassy and the United States Navy Mission in Colombia. My career includes specialised translation for both military and non-military offices in the U.S. and abroad.

Academic & Professional Credentials

My multidisciplinary approach is grounded in a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2009) and a Master of Arts in Journalism (2018). I am a Cambridge-certified educator and a member of the American Translators Association (ATA). Furthermore, I completed specialised legal English training at GW Law (George Washington University) under the Institute for U.S. Law (Juliana Campagna).

Research & Publications

I dedicate my professional focus to the intersection of legal language, the philosophy of language, and topocentric astronomy. My contributions have been featured in The Mountain Astrologer (US/London) and SPICA. I am also the author of an English-Spanish translation handbook and a publicly published work on the astrophysical justification of astrological symbols. This latter work provides the essential epistemological framework for celestial inference as it was understood before the contemporary era.
